Partner 4: Université des sciences et technologies de Lille – Lille 1
With about 1200 faculty members, 1000 PhD students, 1000 technical staff and 19 000 students, the University Lille1 is one of the major French universities in the field of fundamental science, engineering and social science. It has a great potential in conducting multidisciplinary research programs with both private and public sectors. The main scientific fields concern information and communication technology, life science, biotechnology, material science, environment and social science. USTL is involved in 75 FP6 and FP7 projects and 30 INTERREG projects. University of Lille 1 has strong partnership with the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) with about 25 joint research laboratories. The university of Lille1 is the owner of the SunRise demonstrator and already established a strong partnership with both local government and the private sector for the implementation of the Smart Grid strategy at the Camps Urban Networks.
