Two delegations from Bogota’s Water Company (Acueducto de Bogota) visited Reading in August, enjoying a fact – finding visit and a workshop where the challenges for managing clean water networks in both companies were discussed. Professionals from the network operations and clean water process toured the site and learned how the UK demo site approach for Smart Water 4 Europe is and will contribute to address some of the challenges by using of novel techniques including machine learning algorithms, combined with increased instrumentation through Syrinix sensors and Incertameter flow meters, enabling near real-time detection and location of bursts on the network, as well as identification of customer-side leakage and wastage.
Bogota is home of the biggest water company in Colombia, serving a population of 8.5 million, including provinces.
